No other political paragon has gone the extra mile in advancing the Esan political agenda in recent times than Hon Odianosen Okojie, the Chairman House Committee on Petroleum Midstream representing Esan North East/Esan South East Federal Constituency of Edo State who almost singlehandedly championed the zoning of the Edo State gubernatorial candidacy to Edo Central Senatorial Zone triggering the eventual emergence and landslide victory of His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo in the November 2024 governorship polls.
During the governorship zoning process, a stalwart Hon Okojie vigorously posited that Edo Central, Esanland had not produced a state governor for an extended period of time since Governor Ambrose Alli’s trailblazing tenure in the early 80s. Thus he strenuously argued that it was the undeniable turn of the Esans to assume the mantle of state leadership in the interest of equity, justice and fair play. Despite the staunch opposition of some powerful APC chieftains present at the screening, Hon Odi Okojie won the day with his rigid stance on the Edo Central zoning formula.
The rest as they say is history with the APC adopting his principled position and Senator Monday Okpebholo emerging as the Executive Governor of Edo State with a sweeping victory that sent his motley of opponents scampering for cover.
Indeed Hon Odi Okojie has never looked back in his avowed goal of taking Edo Central and the Esan Nation to the highest levels in the crucial scheme of things not caring whose ox was gored in the process. Having delivered tremendously so far in his first term as Honourable Member, the revered Esan prince from the famed Ogbidi Okojie royal dynasty is poised to do more for his people as their eloquent, courageous and erudite voice in the Senate Red Chamber.
Just like he resolutely stood for the Esan people during the tumultuous days leading to the APC Edo State primaries so will Hon Odi Okojie remain steadfast in advancing their interests, welfare and wellbeing in the political, legislative, infrastructural, developmental and socio-economic fronts. Hon Odi Okojie has done it before and he will do it again when nominated and ultimately elected as a Distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing Edo Central Senatorial Zone. To God be the Glory.
